Plate Collection

So, for everyone that looks at me like I'm medicated every time I mention my "plate collection" and the "plate amoeba" THIS IS WHAT I MEAN!!! I'm trying to collect plates, so that one day I can do this! Hello! Awesome!

Also, if you'd like to donate a cute, unused plate to the cause, you are more than welcome to do so! (so far my plate tally is 2...but I'm trying, dammit!)

Parachute Jacket..literally.

I just saw this on NOTCOTURE. Christopher Raeburn makes jackets from re-deployed military parachutes! COOLES.THING.EVER! This guys is known for his use of fabrics sourced from de-commissioned military stock. His biography is on the site, so check it out!

Why theme presents are AWESOME

So, today is my 22nd Birthday 'vomit', and I arrived home from work this morning to find this GIANT gift bag on my bed!

And this is what it said...

Already funny...so the first thing I pulled out was this bottle of wine picked out by the Kristen Green.

Next were the bath products from Lush. Best.Bathing.Supplies.EVER! All natural, hand made, can you get any better??? The answer is no...not unless you rubbed a hippie on you.

AAAAND NOOOOOOWWW THE MAAAIIIN EVEEENT!!!

Yes ladies and gents, it is a rubber duckie vibrator!

I am very clean and happy!
Thank you Staisha, Kristen, and Rachel! I love you!

Wearin' o' the green...

This is my green bag that I am madly in love with...

Now...check out this article from last Sunday's Globe...I swear, I didn't even KNOW green bags were cool...so much for originality ;)

Cats are gross.

This is Atticus... seemingly harmless, yes?

This is the surprise Atticus left for me on my computer cable...

...rage.

Reasons my mom is awesome...

Suitcase!

This is my first antique buy EVER, and I'm extremely happy with it! I got it at this great antique store in Townsend called Hobart's. Its humongous suitcase that looks like its probably from the 1920's (although I actually have no idea, so if any of you know anything about antique luggage, please correct me...)

LOOK HOW AWESOME IT IS!!!

I was thinking that once I get it to stop smelling like old people and musty basements I could use it for blanket storage in my future living room!
My favorite part of this suitcase is definitely the super old labels from traveling excursions. This thing has been to far more places than I have.

I love it SO much, and it only set me back like $40...TOTALLY worth it! Next time I go back to Hobart's, I'm getting this fabulous old bicycle ad print I found...I wish I were rich.

Join dynamic conductor Grant Llewellyn as he explores the Romantic era with Brahms’ Symphony No. 1. Brahms spent 20 years perfecting this masterpiece to honor the legacy of Beethoven and Haydn. The program also features Mendelssohn’s beautifully lyric Violin Concerto and a World Premiere of a new choral tribute to Handel.

Check out these furniture make overs from design sponge.  I'M SO INSPIRED!!!  They make the collage-in-progress on the front of my dresser look like a 3 yr old's crayon art of family members in odd colors missing limbs...

Album of the moment

Create a FrouFrou station on Pandora.com... its a beautiful thing.

Tea~

Whenever I'm on Newberry or in Harvard square (especially after a lesson) I try to stop at Tealuxe. Its a FABULOUS tea bar, and they serve everything from hot tea to bubble tea. My favorite tea to get at Tealuxe is the sweet chamomile and mint tea, although I must admit, its so good that I haven't tried many other varieties. I plan to broaden my tea-tasting horizons in the future...I'll keep you posted on the results!

Other reasons to visit Tealuxe...it looks like the inside of the Harry Potter wand shop!

Not quite shoes...still AMAZING!!!

My lovee face Laura and I went to UO today! They didn't have the fabulous brown shoes (I know, I know...your heart is breaking) but I did find this fabulous cardigan just as I was leaving and HAD to buy it! I mean...look at the thing...

This is my dinner

This is currently my favorite recipe. Its for baked mac and cheese from the Betty Crocker cookbook. I love making things like this because I can make it on the weekend and have it for dinner for the rest of the week! So since tonight is the 3rd time in a little over a month that I've made this, I thought I'd share the recipe. Give it a try and tell me what you think!

You'll need...

2 cups uncooked macaroni of your choosing (they say elbow...I say LIES!!!)
1/4 cup butter or margarine (or Fabio)
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground pepper (I use 1/2 teaspoon...mistake the 1st time...good mistake)
1/4 teaspoon ground mustard
1/4 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
2 cups milk
2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese (which is 8oz, or in Andrea terms, dump the bag in)

Now do THIS!

  1. Heat oven to 350 (how do you make a degree sign on a keyboard?) F
  2. Cook and drain macaroni as directed on package
  3. Meanwhile, in a 3-quart saucepan, melt butter over low heat. Stir in flour, salt, pepper, mustard, and Worcestershire sauce. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until mixture is smooth and bubbly; remove from the heat. Stir in milk. Heat to boiling, stirring constantly. Boil and stir 1 minute; remove from heat. Stir in cheese until melted. (In case anyone cares, I like to use a whisk for this part...kthanks)
  4. Gently stir in macaroni into cheese sauce. Pour into ungreased 2-quart casserole.
  5. Bake uncovered for 20-25 minutes or until bubbly

ENJOY THE FOODAGE!!!

Ghetto Basket...

Laura and I saw this advertisement at the Ghetto Basket today in Lowell. I must say, thats the chunkiest, brownest bologna I've EVER seen...

WAAAAKE UUUUUUP!!!!

...nuf said.

OH MY GOD! shoes.

Just so you know, I must own these...

SNOW DAY!!!

My snow day thus far has been incredibly unproductive (although I did take a shower, which is a plus...) I've spent stupid amounts of time surfing Urban Outfitters.com and updating my wish list (email update about the new spring line + bored Andrea = HOURS OF MY LIFE THAT I'LL NEVER GET BACK), as well as on Etsy shopping for kitchen supplies...my lack of motivation is saddening.

Anyway, I thought I'd take a moment to introduce whoever cares to my favorite snack EVER!!! Stacy's Pita chips are the only snack I can remember having every year of my college career that I haven't gotten sick of. I just polished off a bag of the naked ones, but the cinnamon sugar and the Parmesan are fabulous, too! Stacy, if you ever come across this blog, Thank you for 4 years of low-cal nourishment!

A post about pita chips...exhibit A of how bored I am...off to clean my room!

Coastline Rings

I just found these rings on NOTCOT.org, and if I ever get married I want these to be my wedding bands! This amazing artist, Hannah Louise Lamb will take any coastline and make it into a ring...best.idea.ever.

Purchased!

So, its snowing...AGAIN! And it isn't supposed to stop until tomorrow, which means its going to be too wet and gross out for me to wear my adorable new yellow woven leather flats that I bought at Urban Outfitters this weekend (hooray for tax returns!) Anyway, I want to wear them before I review them, but it looks like I'm going to have to wait a few days...*sad face*

Song to the Moon

One of my new favorite operas, Dvorak's Rusalka, is being performed by the Boston Lyric Opera this month! This is such a beautiful opera, and for those of you who are unfamiliar, its an operatic take on Disney's The Little Mermaid (the opera came first...) I will be going with my parents in an attempt to make them understand my potential career path...wish me luck!

White Vest

I LOVE this vest I found on Etsy from halfCaf! The only thing stopping me from buying it is the fact that I'm a walking disaster area, and I'll probably spill something on it within five minutes...so cute.
